Create, indulge and be inspired

We are welcoming Arniano Painting School to Lime Wood this summer for our first painting course. Designed for both beginners and more experienced painters, the retreat is run by Amber Guinness and William Roper-Curzon. William does the teaching, while Amber will be working with HH&Co’s Luke Holder to cook up delicious seasonal meals from locally sourced ingredients.

Lime Wood’s grounds and surrounding nature provide plenty of beautiful subjects to inspire both painting and drawing under the expert guidance of William, whose sense of humour, enthusiasm and encouragement ensures guests of all levels can confidently grow in their artistic ability. Amber and Luke will combine their relaxed approach to cooking, with a love of sharing platters and Italian influences, to bring alfresco lunches, fresh aperitivo and fun-filled dinners to the retreat. Painting and drawing are equal to feasting and good company on this two night retreat which aims to inspire and revive creativity whilst also ensuring a relaxing escape with time in Lime Wood’s Herb House spa.

Meet William

William is from Lymington, Hampshire and studied at City and Guilds of London, and latterly at the Prince of Wales's Royal Drawing School, where he studied under Catherine Goodman. Both of these schools uphold a tradition of technical drawing which has been pivotal to William's work and teaching style. His exhibitions consist of dynamic figurative and landscape drawings, displaying a strong rhythm of line and mark-making; it is this emotive and highly expressive way of working that William endeavours to instil in our students.
