Meet the Chefs...

Angela and Luke

Angela and Luke need very little introduction as our Head Chefs at HH&Co. Angela is one of the most famous female chefs out there and along with Luke is leading the charge on casual, light-hearted but seriously delicious Italian-influenced food.

Phil Howard

Phil Howard has always been a ‘chef’s chef’, quietly notching up years of service and influencing the industry immeasurably. Having started off his career in the Roux restaurants, he then moved to train under Marco Pierre White at Harvey’s and Simon Hopkinson at Bibbendum. He opened The Square in 1991 and was awarded 2 Michelin stars during his 25 years there, going to then open Kitchen W8 and Elystan Street, which was awarded a Michelin star in 2017. He is famous for his modern French food that is kept in check by a rigorous approach to seasonality and outstanding technique.

Meet the Chefs...

Valentine Warner

Valentine Warner grew up on a farm in Dorset, learning to fish, shoot and cook from a young age and most will know him as a chef that holds a deep-rooted connection with nature, responsible for conjuring up mouthwatering rustic dishes wherever he may be in the world. Valentine enjoyed a "reasonably successful" career as a painter, but, at 23, couldn't resist the call of the kitchen and decided to focus his time on cooking instead of painting, finding himself in London’s kitchens for five years before running his own catering company. Valentine worked his way onto our screens, where his deep love of cooking, nature and travel has seen him make nine series and contribute to many others. He has also written 4 cookery books just released The Consolation of Food, a collection of hilarious and poignant stories and anecdotes from Valentine’s life, seasoned with recipes.

Neil Borthwick

Neil Borthwick and Angela first met in the kitchens at the Connaught hotel in London in 2002 where she was Head Chef and he was there as a willing junior. He was only meant to be there for a couple of weeks. In the end, he stayed for the best part of four years – they are now married! After leaving the Connaught Neil worked in France before returning as Sous Chef Phil Howard's the Square. In 2013 Neil partnered with Angela and Canteen owners Dominic Lake and Patrick Clayton-Malone to open the modern European Merchant’s Tavern in Shoreditch, stepping down in 2018 to launch The French House in Soho. A Grade II listed pub, this Soho institution’s Dining Room was opened in 1992 by Fergus and Margot Henderson. Fergus would later leave in 1994 to establish his St. John restaurant in Smithfield. Neil has now added his own French take on the Dining room much to the delight of the Soho crowd and critics.
