Deeply rooted in the forest surrounding us, Re-Root at Lime Wood is a series of retreats, events and workshops inspired by the healing powers of nature and guided by the rhythms of the seasons.

Forage, Ferment and Feast
Join us for a day of nature connection and nourishment at Lime Wood on 22nd May 2025, where we’ll explore the wild, edible treasures of spring. Led by resident forager Sammie Longhorn, you’ll uncover the best foraged finds in the grounds of Lime Wood and the New Forest. Then, dive into the world of fermentation with Rachel Booth, founder of Newlyn Fermentary, alongside Lime Wood Development Chef Iain Longhorn, and learn how to transform your foraged goods into vibrant krauts and kimchis.
Rachel shares her passion for fermented foods, revealing their incredible health benefits and how easy they are to create at home. Lacto-fermentation, one of the oldest techniques, is more popular than ever for its gut-loving properties. This hands-on workshop will not only introduce you to the wonders of fermentation but show you how simple it is to incorporate foraged ingredients into your everyday diet.
After a day of learning, come together for a delicious feast, celebrating the wild and fermented flavours you've discovered.

Moth Morning
Join Mollie from Four Acre Farm at Lime Wood from 10am-12pm on Monday 26th May 2025 in the Raw & Cured garden for an exciting morning exploring the fascinating world of moths! We'll be checking the moth traps set the night before, identifying the species we've caught, and learning all about these delicate creatures — from their life cycles to their favourite foods. It's an interactive, hands-on experience perfect for all ages. Afterward, enjoy complimentary refreshments and pastries at Raw & Cured.
Moths are frequently overlooked in favour of their butterfly cousins, yet these fascinating insects are essential to pollination and maintaining biodiversity. With more than 2,500 species found in the UK, they are an integral part of our ecosystem. This event offers an excellent chance to explore their variety, life cycle, and significance in an interactive and immersive setting.
Ticket price of £35 includes pastries and refreshments, and the two hour workshop with Mollie. Please note: Price for one adult includes bringing up to two children under 18 per place booked. If you wish to book more than two children to enjoy the session, please contact Spa reception on reception@herbhousespa.co.uk. Any additional guests over the age of 18 will need to purchase their own ticket to attend the event.
About Mollie: I am one half of Four Acre Farm, focusing on the wildlife and habitat creation projects and environmental education. I have an MSc in Biodiversity Conservation and have worked at Hengistbury Head nature reserve for the past 6 years. I have a passion for nature connection and finding new and innovative ways to get people and children excited about our natural world and all the wonderful creatures who live there!

The Skin and Gut Microbiome: Your Body’s Hidden Ecosystems
6pm Wednesday 4th June 2025
We’re thrilled to celebrate the arrival of the Ground Biome Facial and skincare collection here at Herb House with a special event featuring our dear friend, Peigin Crowley, founder of Ground Wellbeing, and our resident forager, Sammie Longhorn.
Peigin will share insights into her new skincare range, designed to strengthen the skin's barrier and promote longevity by supporting the microbiome. Sammie will discuss her experience of consuming only wild, foraged foods for three months as part of her Wildbiome science project with the University of Bradford, exploring the link between gut health and overall well-being.
Join us for an inspiring conversation on how nurturing both your skin and gut microbiomes can enhance immunity, digestion, and skin health, inside and out. After all, it’s not just about what you put in your body, but also
what you put on it.
Your ticket will include welcome refreshments, an insightful talk with Peigin and Sammie in The Scullery, plus a special wellness gift to take home!

Foraging
Join our resident Forager Sammie Longhorn for seasonal foraging. Sammie is a yoga teacher, forager, and community herbalist, with a passion for reconnecting people with the incredible edible and medicinal properties of our wild and native plant life.
Arrive at Lime Wood for 11am and meet at Herb House to venture into the forest for a one-hour foraging walk. Then head back to our glasshouse for refreshments and a Q&A with Sammie.

Herb House Sonic Freedive
Join Musician and Gong Master Rich Hale (ex-front man for chill-out band Kinobe) and our resident Breathwork Facilitator, Tracey Howes, as they collaborate for a deep dive into breath and sound.
Please feel free to arrive at the spa 2 hours before the session to use the spa to enable you to relax into the evening. With a subtle soundtrack and lighting to gently enhance your ocean experience, Tracey starts with breathwork techniques in the studio with a free-diving theme, to optimise breathing habits for life and not just the session.
You will then move seamlessly through to our hydrotherapy area enveloped by the healing sound of the gongs and warmth of the space. There you can choose to remain on the heated caldarium stones or enter the pool, where the warm water will heighten your senses allowing you to experience the immersive sound of the gongs as they create a sonic scape for the ‘dive’ anywhere between deep meditation and sleep.
Please note two hours use of the spa are included before the session.

The walk will have a focus on how time in the outdoors can support wellbeing and help us feel calm and relaxed. After immersing yourself in the great outdoors, unwind at Raw & Cured with a selection of refreshments and take a moment to reflect on your time in nature.
