Enjoy an evening of delicious Italian dining and perfectly paired wines from Sugrue South Downs

This November, join us for an evening with Sugrue South Downs, the English producer shaking up the wine scene. Winemakers Dermot and Ana Sugrue have earned a reputation for crafting some of the finest bottles in the country, with critics calling their wines “England’s very best.” The husband and wife duo will be hosting a very special dinner, sharing their wines, stories, and passion at our table.

Known for breaking the mould, Dermot and Ana's wines don’t just taste extraordinary, they carry names as intriguing as the vintages themselves, from The Trouble With Dreams to Bonkers and Rock Story. This is English winemaking with serious quality and zero pretension.

Expect a line-up of Sugrue South Down's award-winning sparkling and still wines, each paired with a four-course HH&Co menu rooted in bold, seasonal Italian flavours. It’s an evening where fizz meets feasting, with every dish designed to let the wines shine.

With a devoted following and a roll call of investors that includes Robin Hutson, Hugh Johnson, Hugh Bonneville, and Angela Hartnett, Sugrue South Downs is a name you’ll want to remember – and taste.

Places are very limited, so if you fancy an evening of outstanding wines, Tuscan-inspired food, and fun conversation, book your seat now.

Sugrue South Downs

Founded in 2006, Sugrue South Downs is rooted in the creation of exceptional wines from East and West Sussex. Winemaker Dermot Sugrue planted his first vines at Storrington Priory in 2006, releasing the now-iconic The Trouble With Dreams in 2013, which quickly cemented his reputation as one of England’s finest winemakers.

What began as a one-man venture with his dog Noodles grew into a partnership when Ana – a Croatian-born winemaker with global experience from Peru to Napa – joined him full-time in 2021. Together, they have shaped Sugrue South Downs into a family-run operation with a cult following. With the backing of our very own chairman Robin Hutson OBE, the duo have expanded their vineyards, built a winery, and shared their wines to an ever-growing audience.

Dine, unwind and drift off
