Join Coconut Merchant and Emily Dobbs in the HH&Co Backstage cookery school kitchen this January. 

Emily was the first British chef to popularise Sri Lankan food in London, through her cool and quirky pop-up stall in Druid Street Market (hailed by the Evening Standard as 'utterly fantastic'). She fell in love with Sri Lankan food as a child visiting her uncle who lived there - when the island was in the midst of civil war and her family seemed to be the only tourists. Years later, as a flourishing chef in London, she was determined to bring the food she loved to the city where she lived.

Previously Emily has worked at Spring at Somerset House and Ducksoup in Soho, London.

Sri Lankan food is vibrant, fresh, light and delicious - a lively and colourful combination of spices, flavours and textures. Perfect for sharing and celebrating, now you can recreate it in your own kitchen after a day with Emily.

Emily will guide you through a handful of recipes from her brand new book ‘Weligama’, which is a mix of easy-to-use, innovative recipes inspired by the island. You will then tuck into a Sri-Lankan feast for lunch, all cooked by you and your fellow chefs! Emily uses Coconut Merchant products in her cooking and you will also be treated to a FREE goodie bag from Coconut Merchant full of ingredients for you to use at home.

To top it off Sri Lankan food is naturally healthy, mostly gluten and dairy free due to the heavy use of rice flour and coconut milk, and vegan and non-vegan friendly- suitable for all!  

As enticing as a soft breeze through Galle and equally delectable, WELIGAMA is spice-scented, evocative and the perfect introduction to Sri Lankan cooking.

Emily will lead a cookery workshop; a combination of demonstration and practical cooking held in our state-of-the-art cookery school kitchen, including lunch.
