Back at Lime Wood

After a day in the wild, our Forest Cottages and Cabin offer a cosy retreat from the trail.  Whip up a quick bite in the kitchenette, settle into the sofa with a board game, or enjoy a long, lazy supper delivered straight to your door.

When appetites kick in, the kitchen’s got it covered. At HH&Co, even the simplest plates are treated with the same care as the showstoppers – so little ones can tuck into fish fingers, a proper ragu, or HH&Co’s cheeseburger made just right. For grown-ups, there’s always something a little more indulgent, and plenty to pair with a glass of something chilled while the kids tuck in.

Supper can be served out on the terrace, where there’s space to spread out and savour the view – or brought straight to your cottage for cosy, feet-up evenings in. Either way, it’s food that feels like home.

The Cottages & Cabin

Tucked away in a quiet corner of our grounds, just a short summer stroll from the main house or a quick lift in our Grenadier if little legs need a rest, our Forest Cabin and Cottages are leafy retreats made for sun-dappled days and story-filled nights. Surrounded by birdsong and the scent of pine, they’re kitted out with everything you need. Pantries are stocked with snacks and treats for all ages, Bamford toiletries are there to soothe grown-ups and little ones alike, and air-conditioning keeps things cool when the forest air turns warm.

The Cabin is set on one welcoming floor, with a super king bed for you and a log-crafted bunk that feels like a woodland fort for the little ones; each with its own bathroom.  The open-plan living space, complete with log fire, handy kitchenette, and comfy sofas, is perfect for slow summer evenings.

The Forest Cottages unfold across two storeys, each offering freestanding baths, monsoon showers, and bedrooms designed for peaceful, breezy sleep. One has twin beds downstairs, the other has playful bunks upstairs. And when more adventurers arrive, a hidden door opens between the cottages, creating one spacious family retreat.

Nature, Nurtured

From scavenger hunts to falconry sessions, there’s no shortage of outdoor adventures waiting just beyond your doorstep. Wander through sun-dappled woods with our resident forager, or pedal through leafy trails on our family-friendly bikes.

Prefer a slower pace? Our boot room is stocked with wellies for splashing through puddles or wandering muddy paths, and there’s a treasure trove of board games to bring everyone together for cosy afternoons indoors.

Little Extras

Whether it’s a splash before breakfast, popcorn after dark, or a quiet moment to yourself — we’ve got a few little touches to make family time feel easy.

There are daily family swim slots in the Herb House Pool, just right for pre-adventure paddles or post-forest wind-downs. Back at your Forest Cottage or Cabin, we can set up a cosy movie night — popcorn included. And if you fancy a grown-up evening, babysitting can be arranged with a bit of notice.

Bring the whole pack

Our Forest Cottages and Cabin are dog-friendly, and the New Forest is a paradise for four-legged explorers.  We’ll have their bed fluffed and bowls ready before you even unpack.

While they can’t join you in the main house or spa (no sneaky spa days, I’m afraid), they’ll enjoy full access to the woods right through our forest gate — mud, sticks, and all.

Something a Little Different?

Our Forest Cottages are made for family time, but if you're after a stay that’s just a little bit different in style or set-up, there are a few other lovely options to consider. Crescent Lodge offers a homely feel with a private forest terrace and plenty of room to spread out, while our Forest Hideaway Suites are great for smaller families who like a mix of comfort and quiet.

Not sure what would suit you best? Just give us a call on 02380 287 177 — we’ll help you find the right spot for your stay.

The New Forest Code

While you’re out exploring, we ask that you tread lightly and care for this ancient landscape – it’s a living, breathing place, home to free-roaming ponies, hidden wildlife and centuries-old woodland.  Here’s is a summary of the New Forest code:

Keep to the paths – It helps protect rare plants and nesting wildlife underfoot.

Don’t feed or pet the ponies – however tempting. They’re wild for a reason, and feeding them can do more harm than good.

Bring your litter back to Lime Wood – or drop it in a bin.

Leave gates as you find them – a small gesture that goes a long way.

Park only in designated spots – to avoid damaging the forest floor and verges.

Keep dogs under control – and on leads around livestock or nesting birds.
