As children, our parents plan a bedtime routine which teaches our bodies from a young age that it’s time to go to sleep. As adults, we tend to fall out of this routine, heading straight to bed without any real wind-down time.
1. Transform your bedroom into a sanctuary
Begin by switching off your digital devices at least one hour prior to your night-time ritual and leaving them outside of your bedroom. Ensure your room is free from clutter and there’s plenty of space for you to perform each of these steps. Make your bed so it feels inviting, ideally with sheets made from natural fibres, and let fresh air fill your space by opening doors and windows, before lighting a scented candle with a soothing aroma such as Bamford’s Lavender Garden Candle.
2. Bathe or shower
A relaxing way to wash away the day is to take a warm bath or shower. The essential oil blend of lavender and roman chamomile in Bamford’s B Silent collection is designed specifically for this.
Apply one capful of B Silent Night-Time Shower Oil to your chest before stepping into the shower and rinsing thoroughly, or add B Silent Night-Time Bath Concentrate to your bath and allow the natural fragrances to calm your body and mind.
3. Take time for tea
While you cool down from your bath or shower, brew a cup of naturally caffeine-free herbal tea such as Bamford’s B Silent Night-Time Organic Infusion – a 99.5% organic blend of lavender and passion flowers with hemp leaves, lemon balm and valerian root. Read a book or listen to a calming piece of music while you drink your tea and indulge in this tranquil moment of me-time.
4. Let scent lead you to sleep
Complement the B Silent scent from your bathing or showering ritual with a few light spritzes of B Silent Night-Time Pillow Mist on your bedding and night clothes. Doing so before you close your eyes each night sends a signal to the brain that it’s time to go to sleep.
