The newly refurbished gym at Herb House marks a significant evolution in Lime Wood’s award-winning wellbeing offering. Set on the top floor of the spa, with panoramic views across the New Forest, the space has been completely reimagined to create a state-of-the-art, performance-led training environment where luxury, technology and holistic wellbeing sit seamlessly together. From a full redesign of flooring, lighting and air systems to the introduction of the latest-generation Technogym equipment, every detail has been considered to elevate both the experience and the outcomes of every workout.
At the heart of the refurbishment is a shift in how we approach movement, performance and long-term health. We sat down with Justin, Head of Fitness at Lime Wood, to explore the thinking behind the new space and what it means for the future of fitness at Herb House.

How has the refurbishment changed the exercise experience at Lime Wood?
The refurbishment of the gym has fundamentally shifted the exercise experience from a traditional luxury gym setting into a fully integrated, high-performance wellness environment. Previously, the gym already offered a state-of-the-art Technogym environment with stunning forest views and a calm, exclusive atmosphere. The refurbishment has simply built on this by introducing next-generation, intelligent equipment and a more structured training ecosystem, moving the experience beyond aesthetics into measurable performance and outcomes, all the while remaining true to our ethos of training naturally and in beautiful surroundings.
As part of the redesign, the gym now features three standout pieces of Technogym equipment: the Biostrength Leg-press, Excite Live Climb and Skill Ride, each selected to bring a more intelligent, personalised approach to training.
The Biostrength Leg-press is a flagship addition, using AI-powered biofeedback and adaptive resistance to deliver precision-based lower body training. It enhances strength development while supporting optimal biomechanics and reducing joint stress, making it suitable for both performance and rehabilitation.
The Excite Live Climb brings high-intensity, low-impact conditioning to the floor. With immersive digital coaching and functional movement, it delivers powerful cardiovascular and lower-body training in a joint-friendly way, aligning with a focus on longevity and sustainable fitness.
The Skill Ride recreates the experience of real-world cycling, offering a fully connected, performance-led indoor cycling experience. With advanced metrics, gear-shifting capability and interactive training platforms, it supports both recreational users and athletes looking for measurable progression.

What part of the new gym are you most excited about?
All of it, to be honest. I don’t think of the gym as a collection of individual machines, but as a complete experience. Each element has been carefully considered to create a journey for our guests and members - one that feels luxurious, inspiring and impactful, while also offering a sense of calm and tranquillity. That balance is what makes it so exciting.

What is your vision for fitness at Lime Wood, and how did you work with Technogym to bring it to life?
My vision for fitness at Lime Wood has always been to move beyond the idea of a traditional hotel gym and instead create a fully integrated wellbeing experience - one that sits seamlessly alongside the spa, the natural environment and the wider lifestyle of the property.
From the outset, the goal has been to position fitness not just as an amenity, but as a core pillar of the Herb House journey. That means creating a space that caters equally to high-performing individuals, guests looking to reset, and members focused on long-term health and longevity. The refurbishment gave us the opportunity to evolve that vision into something more personalised, intelligent and outcome driven.
Working with Technogym was central to this. The collaboration was built on a shared philosophy, combining cutting-edge performance technology with a refined, user-centric experience suited to a luxury environment. Rather than simply upgrading equipment, we took a more strategic approach, curating a balanced training ecosystem across strength, conditioning and endurance, selecting intelligent equipment that supports data-driven training, and ensuring the layout enhances both usability and the calm, restorative feel of Herb House.
Ultimately, the aim was to create a space that reflects where the industry is heading, towards precision, personalisation and longevity, while staying true to what makes Lime Wood unique: calm, quality and connection to nature. The result is a gym that doesn’t sit apart from the spa experience but feels like a natural extension of a holistic wellbeing journey.
