Summer Skincare Tips from Sarah Chapman

03 May 2022

Our go-to-guru and skincare expert Sarah Chapman gives us her seasonal top tips for keeping your skin healthy, radiant and protected on your travels and also includes her Skinesis summer essentials.

CLEANSE THE DAY AWAY

Cleansing is the first step of any good skincare routine – especially in summer, when sebum and SPF can build up on the skin and lead to congestion and blemishes. Without a thorough cleanse you are also preventing the maximum absorption of the rest of your skincare. My go-to evening cleanser is Ultimate Cleanse. This omega-rich formula has an oil-based texture that easily breaks down make-up and SPF, leaving skin clean but never stripped.

HYDRATION STATIONS

Hydration is key when you are travelling – whether it’s salty sea water, cold mountain air or sun exposure, your skin can be left needing extra TLC. Look for a hydrating serum infused with hyaluronic acid and rosewater to soothe and replenish irritated, thirsty skin. My in-flight essential for comforting dehydrated, stressed skin is Intense Hydrating Booster – it works to keep hydration levels high and your skin’s first line of defence strong with a combination of hyaluronic acid and immune-defence actives. Slot it into your current routine or tap a few drops on top of makeup to freshen up before you land – quite literally glow on the go.

Another effective way to restore the look and feel of dehydrated skin is a hydrating sheet mask. Top tip: put my 3D Moisture Infusion mask into your hotel mini fridge and use for a cooling cryo-effect after a day in the sun. Leave it on for 15-20 minutes whilst you’re sipping your early evening cocktail – the intense hydrators will plump the skin full of moisture for that dewy, glass-like effect, whilst calming and soothing parched skin.

SPF IS NON-NEGOTIABLE

Wearing SPF daily is essential for maintaining skin health. Whilst we should be wearing SPF 365 days of the year, it is even more vital when we are lying on a beach or out on the slopes. My Skin Insurance SPF 50 Invisible delivers broad-spectrum protection, whilst creating a completely invisible shield for all skin tones. The formula is also infused with hyaluronic acid and barrier-boosting peptides to replenish and reinforce skin after sun exposure. It blends effortlessly and is ideal beneath makeup as a dewy, protective primer. 90% of skin ageing comes from UV damage, so SPF truly is insurance for your skin.

Happy travels!
